One shape - the heart (I)

It's been a long time since I didn't post anything...I was very busy at my work and my quilling had to suffer...Anyway, I'm back and I'm very determined to come with a challenge for those who are in love with quilling like me.

Even though I hadn't time for quilling, I have looked every day on my FB quilling groups, on Instagram and I saw a lot of people (quillers :))) preparing for Christmas so the fever covered me too..lol

So the following idea came cross to my mind: what if we try o use one single shape to create Christmas decorations?! And my first thought was "heart" <3 :)

What I created with "heart" shape you could find below. I hope you like it and try to make your own combination of hearts...

And, in between, I am struggling to finish the "winter heart", so hearts are everywhere...

"Camouflage"

The story of this beautiful "tigerfly" started with me searching about wild life, in order to participate in the annual challenge in one of my favourite FB group - "Contemporary Quilling".  I found dozens of photos with beautiful animals but I was still wondering how can I make something different and original...Even with lots of ideas that came to my mind I realized very fast that I'm not so good at drawing and just printing a photo and quill over it is not what I am looking for either... Looking forward to find something in Pinterest, this beautiful picture came to me (screaming "Quill me") ...but no signature on it, so who could be the author?

I spent one day searching, until I found the artist. The author of this beautiful piece of art is Enkel Dika, his FB page is here. I also found him on Instagram and asked his permission to quill the "tigerfly" and his answer was: " Yes, of course you can :)".

What was interesting in the process of making it, is the fact that all the quilling pieces I were shaped in my hand, giving them the form I envisioned (not always succeeding ...lol) I then put the glue on one side, waiting for them to dry and then glue them directly on the cardboard. A big problem that I faced was the symmetry...I could had obtained a better result but instead of taking some measurements I followed my heart and everything that you see below is based on my sense and on the picture which I have stared at until my eyes hurt me. Even though all was a wonderful experience for me, I wouldn't recommended to any quiller to work only with hands and without pins....

So, here is the first day of work...five hours. Sorry about the pics quality, I did it in the evening...

The second day of work...ten hours.

And the third day...five hours and the result is below :) Not quite like original but I'm pleased. How about you?

Autumn quilled floral heart

Hi, quilling friends!

Finally I found some time and finished the third heart - autumn heart, filled with chrysanthemums, hydrangeas, mums and Gerbera flowers. It was very hard to combine only purple tones with white in order to suite in my bedroom...You will find below stages of my work and the three hearts together in the end. I hope you enjoy these and you will be inspired to create your own floral heart.

This frame took me a lot of time, especially the basket made with swirled strips, but always the finished work worth the entire struggle :)
